Toffee

4 cups chopped walnuts

2 Lg. Hershey bars (7 oz.) (or 4 4oz bars)

2 ½ cups sugar

½ cup water

1Lb. real butter (unsalted)

½ cup Karo light syrup

Set aside, 4 cups of chopped walnuts and two large Hershey Bars.

1) Spread 2 cups of nuts over a 10½ x 15½ cookie sheet.

2) Cook sugar, water, Karo syrup and butter slowly to 310º on a candy thermometer..

3) Pour over nuts and swirl around to mix nuts into the mixture a bit.

4) COOL

5) Melt one Hershey Bar in a double boiler and spread on top of candy, sprinkle

with 1 cup of nuts and press the nuts into the chocolate.

6) COOL, until chocolate is hard.

7) Turn out (upside down) onto waxed paper.

8) Melt the other Hershey Bar, pour onto what was the bottom of the candy, .

sprinkle and press in the remaining 1 cup of nuts.

9) Let cool, again.

10) When cool, break into small pieces.
