Kay's Green Beans

1 can        green beans, drained ( or wash remove ends and strings and steam a similar amount of fresh beans)
1              onion
6   strips   bacon, fried crisp and crumbled
1/3 C       balsamic vinegar
2t             sugar

a little butter or oil for sauting the onion

    Cut onions in half (down the center) and then slice so you have onion ring halves.  Saute in a little oil or butter until the slices are browning, add teh sugar to caramelize and set aside.
   In a sauce pan, combine the onions, beans and vinegar.  Simmer for a few minutes.  Just before serving add the bacon, use a colander to drain and spoon onto plates..
