Tijuana Tidbits

4 C tortilla chips broken
3 C Crispix cereal
1 bag (3-3.5 oz) microwaved popcorn - popped (8-9 cups) (It’s easy and fast)
1 can 12oz mixed cocktail nuts (2.5 C)

 
1/2 C light corn syrup     Now I use 3/4 C   (9/25/12)
  1/2 C butter                         "       "       3/4 C
  1/2 C brown sugar              "       "      3/4  C

1 T chili powder                   "        "     2T**
1/8  t   cinnamon                    "       "     1/2 t  To cover the ingredients better and make it more crunchy

Preheat oven to 250º

Combine tortilla chips, cereal, popcorn & nuts in large roasting pan
Combine corn syrup, butter, brown sugar, chili powder and cinnamon in small sauce pan and heat to boiling.

Pour over cereal mix in pan stirring to coat. Bake 1 hour stirring every 20 min. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Store in airtight container up to 2 weeks.

NOTE: I use a large bowl and 2 spatulas to toss 1/3 of the liquid at a time into the dry ingredients to thoroughly mix the liquid and dry ingredients.
Makes 18 cups.
